Gertie is a glass- and copper-clad restaurant that has been inserted into the ground floor of an existing Williamsburg building. The glass façade opens up to the immediate neighborhood, while its copper façade serves as a beacon for traffic on the nearby expressway. Within the restaurant, there is a community of complimentary spaces: the café is defined by bright accents, the dining room features a vaulted plywood ceiling, and the bar, which is elevated above the rest of the spaces, is characterized by its more intimate scale.
