Dilly Dally Restaurant

commoncraft was approached to develop the conceptual design for the build-out of Dilly Dally, a family-friendly neighborhood restaurant that invites locals to luxuriate in a whimsical dining experience. The design centers on the insertion of a new “mega millwork element” into the existing space. This unifying wooden element houses a wraparound banquette, back bar, server station, and kitchen pass. Two L-shaped bars peel away from the millwork in order to extend it into the space and define a variety of dining areas. These bars are topped with a confetti-like terrazzo while the floors are finished in diagonal checkered tile. Quirky light fixtures and an assemblage of colorful artwork add to these playful textures to create an overall composition that lives up to the whimsy of the restaurant concept.
