In preparation for their growing family, a private client engaged commoncraft to design the renovation of their two-bedroom apartment within a mid-century West Village co-op. The formerly enclosed, outdated kitchen was reimagined as an open, light-filled space complete with a new peninsula, updated appliances, cabinetry, finishes, and lighting. A new six panel wood-and-glass operable door system introduces flexibility of use to the living room, allowing it to transform from an expansive gathering space into a more intimate one accommodating either a home office or future nursery. Additional upgrades — including closet renovations, a custom bar alcove, and lighting throughout — enhance both the apartment's functionality and overall livability.
